Pilots

Hello friends and fellow pilots,

Are you ready for the All-New First Annual West Coast Cub and Antique Aircraft Fly-in?

The event takes place on July 10th and 11th (Friday and Saturday).
Many arrivals fly in on Friday morning (pilot registration opens at 9:00 am on Friday), and departures are usually early Sunday morning after breakfast.

Registration

Registration is available on Friday and Saturday between 10 am and 5 pm.  If you plan to participate in the Fly-in contests, you must be registered by 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.   The registration fee is $20, which helps cover the cost of ribbons, award plaques, and door prizes.  Included in the registration packet will be a Certificate of Attendance for your tax exemption filing.

Pilot Proficiency Contests take place on Saturday, starting at 1:00 pm. To participate, you must register in advance (a donation of $5 is requested from each contest participant) and attend the Pilot’s Safety Briefing at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, before the start of the contest.

Reminders

Remember that the temperature goes down with the sun, so please bring a warm change of clothing.

If you have them, please bring your own tie downs, stakes, and chocks, as the overflow and late comers will most likely be parked on the grass or dirt. Several hangars have been built where we used to park the larger and non-Cub types, so most of the non-Cub kinds will now be parked on the south side of the airport, next to the hotel.

Those of you flying from the north, be advised that the Santa Maria Airport (KSMX) is a Class D airspace. You should be at least 3000 ft. when crossing that airport, or be in contact with the tower on 118.3

Lompoc Airport UNICOM is 122.700

Hotel Accommodations and Transportation

We don’t have many camping facilities; however, you’re welcome to pitch a tent or roll out a sleeping bag – some people even sleep under their planes. If you choose to forego the “tarmac camping” experience, several hotels are nearby.

Adjacent to the airport is the Lompoc Valley Inn and Suites
located at 1621 North H Street, Lompoc, CA – adjacent to the airport.

Just a few more steps down the street is Motel 6
located at 1521 North H Street, Lompoc, CA.

The Holiday Inn Express is also near the airport (continue walking down the street a few more steps past Motel 6), located at 1417 North H Street, Lompoc, CA.

You can also check out this list of hotels in Lompoc

The hotels mentioned above are within an easy walking distance from the airport; however, if you need a rental car, there’s Enterprise Rent-A-Car at 1137 North H Street, Ste S, Lompoc (805) 735-4147, or Hertz Rent-a-Car at 415 W Central Ave, Lompoc (805) 736-4206.

At the end of the event, we would be happy to provide you with a ride back to your hotel – just ask at the T-shirt booth!
