Lompoc’s reimagined West Coast Cub Fly-in returns in August with vintage aircraft

Lompoc’s Cub fly-in event will welcome antique aircraft to the tarmac this year, resulting in a new event moniker — the West Coast Cub and Antique Fly-in.

The inaugural event, dovetailing off 40 years of Cubby fly-in, will take place Friday through Sunday, Aug. 15-17, at the Lompoc Airport, where dozens of vintage biplanes and canary yellow Piper Cub aircraft will fly in and be on display to the public.

Aircraft will fly in to Lompoc on Friday, Aug. 15, in anticipation of Saturday’s big event where planes will be on display and spectators can watch flight proficiency games and contests carried out by experienced pilots.

I’ve been bitten by the J-3 Cub 85 HP bug. I’ll be looking for one to buy in about three years. I want to add a set of Edo floats to the plane because my wife and I recently bought a river front property in Virginia.

I was wondering if rides were available during the event?
